We ran a flip cap on our Fuel Altered, drilled a hole through both cap and base, and put a roll pin to disable. Chet at Fremont checked each time we pulled to the line, but always passed.

The tank I have has a locking mechanism on the flip top.

 

Tell you what, I will put a new legal cap on your tank for the flip cap thats on it now

I'm trying to decide whether to go with that style or the motorcycle style wheels . I'm leaning toward the Radars, but they're pricy.

 

Yeah, I paid dearly for them and the rear wheels too. It hurt to part with the cash, but I love'em.

Im so tired of going to the dragstrip and seeing mustang's nova's, camaro's & chevelle's !

I started going to Detroit Dragway in the late 60's in the glory days when sling shots,

altered's and funny cars ruled the place !
it was the tail end of the gasser wars

and a wonderful time in drag racing .

I would love to build one of these with a multi carbed small block chevy & a foot braked glide run E85 and a small radiator to drive all the way back to the pits
throw on a set of pie crust slicks ... race all summer and not worry about breaking anything !

question is How would the gang at No Hot Rods Allowed deal with it?

how crazy would they be if I set the thing up to run low 12's high 11's?

would I have to wear a full suit? I would under stand the arm restraints because of being an open cockpit
but would you really need the pants boots gloves neck roll?

 

I have my fuel tank with an Aeromotive A1000 in tank pump and radiator, fans and electric water pump all tucked under the turtle deck. I'm going to ride mine on the street a little, zoomies and all! They have removable baffles but the Po-Po still might not see the humor....

I think you could get one into the 12's without trying hard with a mild small block. Build it!!

It's all about the safety.Meeting the rules for the speed you will go.The carbs will need a scoop,so fuel can't blow back onto the driver.A open cockpit the driver will need a full face helmet,yes arm restraints are manditory.A single layer jacket,non-flamable shoes.
My question to you is: Why would you not want to wear a full fire suit and shoes,and neck collar?

 

Sounds like a fun car. I'm going to build mine to cert to 7.50 to stay in the good graces of the tech officials.

 

So AA/FA 0045 were you a police officer? From the looks of your avatar you were LOL.

 

It sounds like you are building it well.
It should be awesome! It makes my day to be at the track or a show and see someone there with a really cool old FED or altered.
