History Anyone remember this old gem?

Varying Opinions on what should've been done with her…
1932 Ford Tudor, alive and well.
Driven by it's original owner from 1932 - 1947.
Stored in a mid-west barn from 1947 to 2012.
Relocated her to So CA, went through the mechanicals and she's done.
I'm now the second registered owner.
She'll remain an "unrestored" driver as long as I own her.

 

Looks good to me, mine was owned by the original family and had sat for many years until I got it more than 20 years ago.

Needless to say,I hot rodded it and when my mom's health declined I sold it to help her with medical expenses only to buy it back from the gentleman's widow after he passed away 2 years ago.

So I am the second owner & the forth owner. HRP

 

You got it right - leave it as it is - that is a great find!

Holy shit! You just don't see originals anymore. You've got the single coolest story to tell folks when you can say that everything in your Ford was there when John Dillinger was still living. And that is cool.

Very good on ya. I'd just give it a sponge bath & rub some liniment on it. My dad never could afford car polish so he would just use a lightly oiled rag. Wish I could find one in a barn.

 

This 1932 Ford Tudor is close to 99% original, 51k original miles. There are just a few minor items missing which I’m working on locating (rear seat ashtrays & passenger side engine splash pan). The car is close to cosmetically the way I found it. There is no evidence of it being wrecked or repaired anywhere. The fenders have none of the typical cracks and only a few dents and dings. It is quite amazing how straight the body is after all these years. It has all of the original paint, glass and what’s left of the mohair interior.

I’ve tried to leave the original patina in most areas, but some items just had to be cleaned up. I worked on this car, on and off for six months, getting it safe, road worthy and drivable. I rebuilt the engine, which amazingly was the original 1932 standard bore 21 stud flathead V-8 with a Detroit Lubricator carburetor. I went through the transmission and driveline and had the original radiator and fuel tank rebuilt. I replaced all of the bearings, bushings, mechanical brake components, tie rod ends, fuel lines, tires & tubes, etc. Unfortunately all of the original rubber hoses, fuel line and wiring had to be replaced as well due to rot.

 

That car is incredible. It would be a shame to mess with it.

 

Wow! I'm curious as to what it looks like cleaned up! It's amazing what happens with some buffing and elbow grease.

I think only in California could you get away with leaving the car as is with out it continuing to rapidly degrade. A car like that out here would last a summer before it was noticeably worse off.

I'd love to see some video of it running when you get that far

For those that say I should Hot Rod it, drop it, chop it, prime it, paint it, etc… I respectfully decline to do so. I have hot rods, a couple of 32's, and will continue to spend time building them in the future. I only have one completely original Deuce and there aren't many more around. it's the easiest one to maintain/show. I don't have to wipe it down and probably gets the most attention everywhere it gets driven.

As much as I love hot rods, I would never have the heart to molest a car this original. A tip of the cap to you for preserving this '32 ... many of us never get the chance to see a complete and running, truely original car of this era. I hope that you will bring it out to some of the SoCal car events ... it would be great to see it.

 

Enjoy it as is. Not many left like it.
