Lets See Some Hudsons!!!!!

Thanks for the nice comments from a couple of the posters.Still on my bucket list to bring the car over to USA and do some runs including Santa Maria.Maybe next year or 2015!!!

My 1934 Terraplane stock 6 cyl. convertible coupe, model "K", with factory fender skirts (first year offered). I participated in a movie shoot in San Antonio about blues guitarist Robert Johnson. Yes, he of "The Terraplane Blues".

 

Here is ours, Pretty hacked up underbeath. It on a 72 Toronado frame and has front wheel drive. Not sure how I'm going to fix it. My son, Ace, is a big cars movie fan. He'll be helping, good thing we have a few years.

 

A 54 Hudson with Twin H won it's class, L/S ?, at the NHRA Nationals, a few times I think. It was a Hornet Coupe with Hydramatic and ran in the 15's. The owners name was Jack? Clifford and he later started Clifford Engineering specializing in 6 cylinder speed equipment. I heard is passed not too long ago. These Hornet engines came alive with the X (export) engine options, cam, etc. I drove an old step down Hudson once and was amazed how well it steered without power steering. The steering is controlled from the center of the tie rods, not the end like most cars. I'll see if I can find a picture of Clifford's Hudson to post.

I own a 28 and a 29, but as this thread is aimed at stepdowns, i will add some trivia. When Holden Australia introduced their new Commodore around the start of the eightys, they advertised it as the first time the name 'Commodore' was used in the car world. Guess the ad guys didnt know cars as well as they thought.

 

Kind of an old thread, and I posted this in the other Hudson thread, but here's my Jet that used to race on the dirt up in Vermont:

 

You are correct of course. Hudson had used the name Commodore from 1941 through 1952 on many thousands of cars. While your Australia got MANY Hudsons over the decades, few were top of the line Commodores due to import taxes on the larger, higher horsepower cars.
