Hey guys I'm going to be ordering up a new bed for my 32 project in the next few weeks from Pro's Pick and they can make it up already shortened. I'm thinking around 50" may be the way to go but I'd like to see some pics of open front (no hoods or fenders) 32-34's with shortened beds. Please list the length of your bed in the post. Thanks.

  2. There's several pic threads on 32's that have good pics of the side view. Search and yee will find.

60" looks great to me. The blue one in my albums was 60

It depends on the truck.... fenderless, no hood, roadster, closed cab, chopped top, etc.

I'm a fan of stock length pick-up beds.

I prefer the stock length bed with full fenders.

I don't like the look of a super short bed either. I have looked at tons of pics online but they obviously don't list an actual measurement. If I was starting with a stock length and cutting it down it wouldn't be as much of an issue but I was going to have them make it already shortened for me.

As I stated in my original post I won't be running fenders or a hood.

I've done 3 deuce pu's. The first box was 57 with a 2.5 inch chopped cab,the second was 60 with a 4 inch chop and the third was 55with a 3 inch chop. Of the 3 beds I liked the look of the 60 inch bed the best. You can see it in the Oct. 05 R&C. I think you will not be happy with a 50 inch, just to short.

  8. We made the bed on my Deuce pickup and it measures in right at 60 inches.

Excuse the Christmas photo,,this was a couple of years ago. HRP

My shortened 34 has a tilt wooden flat bed with racks on each side, that is only 43 inches long,... and keg/fuel tank mounted toward the cab.

While people seem to like the look, I just put bedsides on it, to give it more of a PU look.....50 inch sides, did the trick,....I love the look now. ;)

I am building a 40 fenderless, and will go with the 60 inch as well.

Here's mine 57" on a 115" wb with a 6" chop. Fwiw My wheels aren't in the stock spot. They're probably an 1" or 2" farther back.

IMO picking the bed length on one of these trucks is tough to get right. I remember going back and forth between 57 and 59 for at least a day.

Hardcore,if you have the rest in place(body, frame, wheels, etc),you could always mock up some cardboard sides and stand off and view from different angles to see what you like.

So far I like the look of the 60" sides as well. Everything just seems to be proportionate. Not sure yet if I will be channeling my cab or not. If so I would assume an even shorter bed would look better right? I can always cut mine down further if that's the road I take.

Oh and all of this will be sitting on a brand new Pete and Jake's 32 frame.

I decided on 41" on mine. I mocked it up with cardboard & gave it a few days.

Would you happen to have any pics? I shortened my bed on a 33 but never really measured it. I removed 5 inches of from back of bed. I will measure the bed in the morning.

Another vote for 60" - 60" finishes 5" past the end of the chassis:)

In the process of building this bed 55in. Truck is a '34 on '32 rails. The bed extends 2in. Past the rear of the frame. Don't have a side shot. Reno.ATTACH]2086002[/ATTACH] ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1385843255.651833.jpg

Just finished my 4th deuce pu. 3 inch chopped top with a stock length Mack Hills bed shortened to 60 inches. It's just right!
