After accepting the realization that Minnesota Roadster weather for 2013 is now just a memory, I decided to embrace the long winter build season ahead. After about 2800 loyal miles this first season on the road, I decided the Olds had earned some extra TLC. Only one ride on a flatbed all summer, and that only being the result of a motor mount bolt falling out and dumping the coolant. Not bad for a motor that had been sitting for an unknown number of years. Not bad at all. But it smokes a little bit, and clearly could benefit from a good once-over. The rebuild begins.

Once apart, things look pretty good. Ran into Tony from Ross Racing last spring at the Lonestar Roundup, and bent his ear for a while. He said with my power to weight ratio I should keep it simple. Already got plenty of good Oldsmobile power for a T. So that's the plan.

As light as that ride is even a stock rebuild will make it scoot. Tony is definately the one to talk to on these engines.

    What year engine?

  6. Great project you got going on there...
Looks like you got the #10 heads, that would make them '56.
Should be fun once you got it all back together and running! Keep us posted.

I know my Grandpa had a black 61 88, 394 Rochester 4 bll and 3 speed stick. He would beat my Uncle with his 66 GTO all the time. It was one of the fastest cars I ever rode in as a kid.

Heads and block stripped, cleaned and loaded up for a trip to East Side Speed Shop for machining.

Fuel tank revisited. This tank has worked well, but at only about 10 gallons, I'm at the pumps way too much driving the 30 miles to work every day. So out it goes, and order placed for Tanks, Inc. Higher capacity, and it'll get tucked up close to make some trunk space.

Same combo here. '56 324 bored to 4". Domed JE pistons, runs all day on 92 octane. Four 94s synchronized. TRW 3/4-Full cam from the early '60s. Hydro 4-speed, Champ QC with 4to1 gearing. Car weight is 2340#.

All the best on your build, Marx!
BTW, my roadster was at the '07 BTT50s.

Will be watching this build as I've got a 324 out of my sons 55 sitting in my shed and will be interested to see how your build goes. Only problem is that Ross Racing Engines is a bit far from me.
