1947-54 Chevy 3100 Ball Bearings to Tapered Bearings

    Anyone made the change from stock front suspension ball bearings to newer style tapered bearings on front spindles using the bearing kit from Speedway?? Attempting to see how we'll the bearings fit and how well the hold up.

    Got the bearings from Speedway. They appear to be a quality set. Waiting on my dropped axle from Sid... I can't wait!

  4. I've heard good things about the tapered bearings - sounds like the way to go. As soon as I save up some $s my axle will be off to Sids as well.

    I've had them on my '49 for a year now, no problems...

    mine is also a Sid's drop axle with all stock hubs/spindles/brakes
