Just read through this as well, very impressive work. So much talent and skill. This is going to be one hell of a hot rod!

  3. Thank you Dean.

I started putting the rain gutters on the body. Since I couldn't find a usable set of original sedan gutters, and the repop ones are junk. I thought I would put coupe gutters on the car. Of course I had to buy two sets because they aren't long enough for a sedan body. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1384968594.771537.jpg
I fist made a templet of the curve that the gutter has to follow. Then transferred it to 3/4" plywood to make a form to bend it. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1384968714.113492.jpg
I use the small piece of wood as a stop to hold the end of the gutter. I just kept moving it where I needed it using drywall screws to hold it down. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1384968875.000902.jpg

  4. They also needed to be curved in to match the contour of the body. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1384968971.873319.jpg
I used the same plywood form and just slowly shaped it by putting light pressure on it every 1/4" down the entire length. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1384969159.238378.jpg
I then butt welded about a foot and a half to make it the correct length, and rounded the front edge. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1384969327.637941.jpg
It's fully welded across the top now and it's solid as hell. I'll seam seal the bottom edge of it since its pretty strong and doesn't need welding. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1384969598.395078.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1384969613.703481.jpg

  9. Thanks Steve, I can't wait till this thing is painted either. I'm hoping to have it painted by the spring time if all goes well. I should have named this thread "poky Fritz slowly builds a Model A". God damn, I've been working on this thing way too long.

I may have missed it if you mentioned, but what tire sizes are you running? Looks like it may be just the combination I need for my pickup.

  14. They are firestones, the fronts are 6.00-16 and the rears are 7.50-16.

Thanks. Looks good - almost square but a little stagger. Just what I was looking for to throw on my '35 wires.

  16. I've been working on finishing up the roof area. I'm planing on putting a coupe style vinyl insert in the roof. So the channel that runs around the back had to be removed. On the top of the quarter panels I cut the channel out and welded a new piece of metal in ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1385478909.517060.jpg

  17. The top of rear body panel I hammer and dollied the channel flat. Then welded up all the slotted holes shut. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1385479270.676298.jpg
Then I had to take care of the mess between the two panels and the bead. The bead was a 1" too short so that need a piece add to it. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1385479570.161656.jpg

  18. The front next to the visor needed work too. I filled the two holes and connected the roof panel to the visor. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1385479739.236818.jpg

Looking great! Keep the pics coming. For the top piece of metal in place of the slotted holes, what did you use, or did you make that piece to cover the entire strip. I welded mine in all the way around and hammered it flat but would like to have something like you are doing but if there is an "easy" way, I am all ears;)

    Looking great!

    Thanks guys,
You are talking about this strip right?
On the sides from the raised T strip to the rain gutter I cut the slotted grove out completely. I then tig welded a strip of 18ga ( hammer welding as I go) in to replace it. Being the corners of the roof have a pretty good curve to them there was very little warpage that's why I cut them right out. As far as across the top of the back panel goes. I hammer and dollied the channel flat first. Then I held a piece of brass ( a large brass punch) on the inside of the holes and mig welded them shut. I didn't cut that strip out because I figured it would be a lot more work and would have warped the panel real bad. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1387860028.092224.jpg
