  6. .....I really hope that it's safer than it looks. Just seems like a lot of car on not so much of a lift. Good luck. Stay safe.

  7. I would rather Work on the Ground than using that Lift

    Just my 3.5 cents

  8. Please be safe! That's a big risk in my opinion.

Although I've read nothing but good on these things, I'd still be tempted to build a couple of simple wood trusses to go under the bumpers as a safety measure.

that's a beautiful Merc. Personally, I wouldn't get under the car with that lift.
Does the lift have a lockout to keep the lift up in the event you lose hydraulic pressure.

Defintely buy you some tall jackstands for saftey man, heck your engine weighs more than that lift. Just be safe and dang nice car.

  15. I have the snap on version of that lift and love it . Its perfect for body work, no poles or other parts to get in the way. Its stable and has a safety lock. I have used it for 15 years with no safety issues ever. I hope to have my merc on it soon.

    Right there with ya Bob---

  18. I've used those in shops many years ago, a bit more heavy duty though. I believe it was made by Rotary and was anchored to the floor. It did have a safety bolt/lever that had to be pulled before it could be lowered.

We used them for tire and brake work only. I would not go under it even to pick up a dropped socket.

I got the lift from my mac tool man. The head unit os american made in MI. And the frame is made in canada. It does have a lock and i am real comfortable under it. It is rated at 6000 lb. So it lifts the merc with no problem. I have been around lifts for 13 years and this is the best one i could find. Cost was 2000.00. Thanks for the coments on the merc. Was my dads and now i have it.

Just be careful with that kind of lift. Quite a few years back I had a car fall off of one similar to that. Took the tires off the rear and it went forward. I used it forever and then guess I didn't center it just right or something and down it went.
