A friend who use to race "roundie-rounds" told me that he use to run an adjustable thermostat housing/filler neck on his small block Chevy to compensate for changes in weather as the season was from April until November. He said it had an external adjustment on it to vary the flow of coolant. I have a need for such a component as by car runs too cool when the ambient temperatures drop. I have done a google search for this part and am unable to find anything. Is anyone familiar with this set-up and, if so, do you know where to source one?
In all my years I have never heard of such a thing. Adjustable as in the position of the hose, but never in the flow of coolant
I remember them..... I had one.... Been a long time since I've seen them...... I don't remember who made them but I'll try... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Why not just do like a lot of us did (and some around here still do) and run a "summer" and "winter" thermostat changing when the seasons change?
I got to thinking, I guess you could put an inch and a half ball valve in the top radiator hose and adjust it so the flow would get you the temp you wanted but it would look rather corny in there. You could rig it with a cable so you could adjust it from the dash much like a heater control though.
