need a bumper and some miscellaneous items chrome plated .. who do you gyys recommend in the waukesha /milwaukee wisconsin areas? Thanks !
I'd be leery of Bob, had some new sway bars done and they started pitting and rusting after a year. The car has yet to hit the road and is in a heated garage. Try the Chrome Shop 565 Olde Midway Rd, Menasha, WI 54952. Ask for Steve and it's worth the drive IMHO.
The key to chrome is proper prep work. There is a small shop on 2nd floor of rapids drive and spring street In Racine Wi. They do a great job of buffing and prep work. I then go to Racine plating and ask for Bob. Reasonable and good work
Frank's Custom Plating in Marengo, IL.. Give him a call before hand--He's done some stuff for me and it's top notch.. Probably almost 2 hour drive from Milwaukee-but he's a good guy.. AND-he's the polisher--not the plater.. doesn't do junk-but he can fix it. 815-923-8089 VERY FAIR prices as well -John
Thanks guys .. I had robert glass do a bumper for me a few years ago .. What a fly by night operation.. I did not even get my orginal bumper back .. I got someone elses junk . and he told me he was going to all the work right out of his tiny shed out back.. when I got it back it was wavyer than billy hell. and would not discount or stand behind his or some elses work . Beware !! what a crook ! I took my bumper over to Badger plating .. giving them a try.
If you want a GREAT job. Excelent service, and a reasonable $$$$ call Lance @ Sioux Plateing, Sioux City Iowa. It would be worth the shipping. Walter
+1 for Custom Plating Specialists in Brillion, I even worked there for a while. They're really good at die cast stuff and small parts which can be tough. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
I'd stay away from Brillion. I took my '35 Plymouth hood ornament there. He didn't even chrome it but said he polished it and charged me $145. A rip off if I've ever seen one.
