Looks to me like maybe someone was planning on sectioning ,channeling and narrowing the car at one time, and trying to figure out where to make the cuts. Looks like you saved her.
Thanks for the posts everybody. I am grateful the old timer who owned her was willing to take payments of 400.00 per month. I am a fan of hot rods and customs...but am sure glad I'll be saving a beautiful coupe for restoration. Yep, the paint stripes just as the rust rot in some typical places were very easy to look past.
