I saw that in the flesh at TechnoClassica Essen - very impressive indeed. Quality of the workmanship is unbelievable. It was at RetroMobile Paris a while back too.
Wow! There's a really interesting series of videos on you-tube about the Auto Union racing cars of the thirties: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m27sQeX3c5g
Watching the video, it make me wonder what could have been if the US gave a quarter million to Harry Miller and Fred Offenhouser at the same time.
Mmmmmmmh, here in Holland we still thank all those US-soldiers who made sure that the Dutch didn't become Germans in WWII. The title of this thread confused me a little..... By the way: we are very good neighbours now
Yes I was thinking that too - maybe the OP meant Deutsch. The car is simply amazing - pure art on wheels and functional too - where is it now? I wonder where Maserati got their inspiration for the birdcage - Tipo 61- body???
Deutsch, not Dutch. I'm surprised they didn't have a swastika somewhere on there. Adolf liked his emblem on all Deutsch headliners in any venue.
Ducht??? Have you got the same emotiv attitude when you see a BMW, PORSCHES or MERCEDES CARS in the street......if yes..i think you most consult..... auto-union is now called AUDI... I think that you want orient this post in political discusion....here it's just a mechanical discusion.....and i'm sorry for you spider 64...but "Holland" never made a pretty car...
No political ambitions here, let's talk about cars! Just thought the credits for this Auto-Union streamliner should go to the right country: Germany for the original car and England for the rebuild. And here, maybe not pretty, but Dutch for sure: a Spyker Streamliner of the twenties (Picture Paul Wouters) Okay, the original car is lost, but this recreation is Dutch too. Anyway, with this post the title of the thread fits part of the content.
Ahh....well that's a no brainer. May as well give it to the thieves that possess the original drawings.
