Looking for some opinions on a tire size, I want to go with some wide whites on chrome reverse or smoothie wheels. Most likely 15x7 all the way around. Any tire size suggestions? Should I go slightly wider on the back? Thanks, car is 48 chevy 2 door. I will try add picture.
5.50 or 5.90 for the front, and 7.00 firestone bias piecrust with chrome reverse would look awsome! THis pic comes to mind.
If you're talking radials, something taller and narrower would be the key. I'd say 215 or 225 75R15. I'd probably opt for 15x6 as well, but the 15x7s should work, as long as you checked your clearances properly.
I like the look of the bias tires but I will probably have to go with a radial better driving. I still have to take a few measurements when I get the rear fenders back.
205/75/15 pr 235/75/15. Just make sure you stick with 75 series, nothing looks more lame than an old car that doesn't have enough side wall.
coker tire makes a radial that looks like a bias ply. put the fenders back on it and lower it they will look good on it.
The Cooper Trendsetter is not a bad looking radial with the black walls out. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I agree with all of this. According to Coker the stock sizes were 6.00-16 or 6.70-15. A Firestone 6.00-16 is 27.91" tall and a Firestone 6.70-15 is 28.58" tall. A 205/75R15 is 27.11" tall; a little shorter than stock. A 235/75R15 is 28.88" tall; a little taller than stock. I try to stick to a similar overall diameter to the originals, and if the exact match ends up being too wide on the front, I shoot for getting the average of front and back as close as possible. Of course, this assumes you want a performance look. A resto rod or a custom ought to have the same sizes all the way around. A 225/75R15 would get you close, but steering effort might be high with the bigger contact patch. Of course, the purist in me would like to see piecrust Firestone whitewall 6.70-15s in front and 7.10-15s in back.
Ok I am getting ready to place an order, thanks for all the help and suggestions. Just want to double check before I order because this is a big important one! Let me know if I am missing something please, here it is… 2 wheel vintiques series 64 15x7 2 series 64 15x6 2 diamondback ll 235/75R15 2 diamondback ll 205/75R15
