First let me admit, I am no custom guy. I wish I could be, but I think I lack the skills.

    Second, I have a question.

I am looking for a set of Bellflower tips to dress up a wagon I am in the process of building. All I can find are 1-7/8" inlets. I am deducing that there is only one manufacturer and this is all I get, no matter who I am buying from.

My deal is, I haven't had anything with 1-7/8" exhaust ever....what is everyone doing about this? Bottle necking it down with a reducer? Hopefully, there is another option.

    Thanks

    Root

  2. Most guys who run BellFlowers are running 1 3/4" or 2" exhaust to get the sound that goes with the look. 1 3/4 will slip inside and 2" slips over, so that is why we make them that way

as far as I know, Patriot exhaust is the one making them for everybody. And as far as I know, they currently only make the 1 7/8" inlet. They did offer 3 lengths, 18", 24" and 30". But I think most places only offer the 18" (jegs, summit etc). So I'm not sure if they are making all the lengths still. The Patriot part numbers are:
    H1530 (18")
    H1531 (24")
    H1532 (30")
Here is a link to a Patriot catalogue I found online for 2012 though.

***oh and one thing to note when picking a length, they don't add the 90 degree bend in the length, so you need to keep that in mind when picking a length. If I remember correctly the 90 turn was 6" long***

I scored a pair off Amazon for $30. On the tbird I used them on, the mufflers were very close to the tips, so instead of reducing the pipe before the tip, we used 2" inlet mufflers with a 1 7/8" outlet.

    here is a pic

  4. Yes, I think we (Patriot Division of PerTronix) are the only manufacturer, and Yes we offer the three lengths.
The H1530 is 18" of Fat Tip and 28" overall length
    The H1131 is 24" and 32"
    The H1532 is 30" and 39"

Excellent choice of Classic Cool pipes! They only really look good on long cruisers, in my opinion. They're perfect on The Bird! Larry Watson and all the Bellflower Blvd and Long Beach cruisers would be proud !!

Don, who do you work for?

I just kinda like the looks of them. I have a space behind the rear wheels on my little 63 Chevy II wagon that looks out of balance.

Anybody know where to get chrome pencil tips 1-3/4 or 1-7/8 diameter by about 12-18 " long? All those in the catalog shown are 2 or 2-1/2 " outlets. I can find 8" long tips but none of the longer ones.

So if I understand correct the length is measured from the upset at the end of the 90 degree bend to the tip end. I am wanting a pair for a 1964 Cadillac coupe de ville.

    As per above:

The H1530 is 18" of Fat Tip and 28" overall length
    The H1131 is 24" and 32"
    The H1532 is 30" and 39"

I've just put a set of H1532 on my Mercury, and checked with a ruler. The 30" is the length of the fat pipe to the welded join to the elbow piece. The overall length to the outside of the bend is 39". Nice pieces.

I just cut off the existing tailpipe and welded in a tight bend (cut from a pipe donut), the existing pipe was near enough to the same size that it was easy. Getting the bellflower pipe to sit in the correct position took a couple of tack and test cycles.

I haven't used any sort of clamp or support beyond a rubber hanger in the back of the rear wheels. They have survived a 500 mile round trip recently so should be OK.

Is there a muffler shop in your area that can just bend up some stainless steel pipe for you? You could get any diameter and length you like.
They wouldn't have that little flare up from 1 7/8 to 2 or 2.25 inches, but it doesn't sound like you're after 100% period correct accuracy anyway?
