In the middle of a 59a flathead rebuild, I must decide if I want adjustable lifters. Who sells good lifters. From what I've read off shore lifters are not as good as the older adjustable Johnston brand.
Red's Headers has Johnson Lifters. http://reds-headers.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=6
From what I've heard, NOBODY makes flathead lifters in the US any more. If anybody can prove me wrong, please show us the product.
Very recent thread on lifter here. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=396605&referrerid=19869
Soft Speedway lifter and ensuing damage to Isky cam lobe after a few hundred miles. "First problem we've ever heard of with those... sorry, you're just out of luck."
Just a side note I used to drill an 1/8" hole perpendicular to lifter bore to put a 1/8" punch in to adjust lifter.
Oh sad news I was all set to grab a set from mike. Any one else do a quality set. His were great. Still hopeful I will track a set of his down.
Since I started this thread, I'll give a update. Speedway won't stand behind lifters they sold, CGM Motorsports sells Johnson Hy-lift. In a phone conservation, I was told there made in Florida. Bob Drake salesman told me they make their own. I ordered a set from CGM, $197 with free shipping.
I did not do this and I was sorry later. The little wrenches don't work very well with a high lift cam.
