Technical Can anyone identify this part?

I got a box of old 40's and 50's parts and I can't figure out what these are. I know I have seen them before but can't remember. Any know? Thanks Paul

give some rough idea of size. yes, it looks so familiar

 

About 9 inches wide and 4 tall.. Looks like a bakelite plastic and someone painted it.

 

so, it must be a dash bezel?
