This car is the third of four 1953 Cadillac Le Mans' built. It was sold by GM in August 1955 to Floyd Akers, a Washington, D.C. Cadillac distributor.

Syd Mead...he wasn't even a car designer per se, but he faked it really well! Many of his 70's renderings inspired Detroit (especially Cadillac) enough to knock off his ideas.

Nice shots if they're yours, A32. I shot a movie of the Gilda X driving onto the Pebble Beach course, with the turbine whooshing loudly. It was chilly and I warmed my hands in the blast! I don't know how to post a movie. Anyone know?

  12. Yes....they are mine, I don't post other peoples pictures.

  15. Back in 1968 (I was 8 Years old), my father who was on strike
with the phone company, worked that summer for a restoration
shop. He took me there once or twice and out of all of the cars
there the one I remember to this day was the Alfa Romeo Bat.
It had the sweeping rear fins with the cutouts in them. It could
have been either the Bat 5 or the Bat 7 , but to me it could have
been the Batmobile. For more photos check out these links

I have always loved the look of the ealy GM windshield frames like those found on the corvette. did Gm use them on any other factory cars ( I see them on a lot of concepts like the caddy below).

does anyone have a vintage vette to take a measurement of the width (have thought about putting one on a 49-54 chevy but fear they are to narrow)
