Look at my thumb. Gee I'm dumb. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1373940414.674866.jpg . Yep after a few good swings my hammer found my thumb. This is my project. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1373940618.838408.jpg . Bought it from a guy who got too deep. Got the rear suspension rebuilt and installed tonight. Like how to swing a hammer. Ha.

Maybe you shouldn't use a hammer. Other than that it looks like youre off to a good start!

"Like how to swing a hammer. Ha." sure we do, but more importantly: how did you like it? Good luck on your build and wear gloves when you can. at least it's a little protection:)

That was with gloves. I probably would not have skin. There was some power behind that swing.

You can usually tell a guy who has been doing chassis and suspension work for a while by the scars on his off hand.

I could have beat JD Fikes with my good hand when he took the long way to the emergency room to show me a car in someone's carport after I smashed my thumb with a 2-1/2 lb hammer and needed 4 stitches though.

That looks like an interesting project, keep us posted on the progress.

Well it's been a slow learning process rebuilding the ft suspension. Got it tore down and had fun installing one of the upper inners. Thank goodness for the chevytalk link of the rebuild.

My game plan is to get the chassis rolling and put the Lego set back together and make it a driving work in progress so the fam can enjoy it as it evolves. That said on vacation I picked up some Mexican blankets and a cool mask for the interior ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1375932905.516220.jpg . I know they are a trendy style but be trendy till I break down on a new interior.

ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1381368448.083655.jpg got board and put some flames on the gas tank. My girls helped now my car has all their art work on it starting to wonder if I should just clear over it ha

The more I research fab work the more im thinking of changing the tail lights. What do you think is a less invasive surgery vs the cool factor. Ill take other suggestions. Thx

The Texican? Never heard that before, That may be a common term down that way I dont know, but that seems like that would be a cool name to be painted down the side of an old gasser from that area.;)

Yep, the Texican, the Duke used it along with other big Texas names like Sam Houston.
Yep, thumb nail is still growing back and still swollen.

Looks like more Swiss cheese that I thought. Luckily, most of it was in the pans which I planned on having to replace. Time to track down my patch panels.

That was my first car years xxxxx + ago:eek: as for the thumb i doubt you will ever catch up to me,seems like every time i swung a hammer my eyes crossed and my thumb became the target, now i grab a pair of channel/locks to hold a chisel, got a little smarter with age:D If my memory serves me right mine never, even after being rebuilt wouldn't carry more than 5/10lbs oil pressure at idle and 20/30 lbs with the go peddle on the floor. My neighborhood friend who's dad was a mechanic/ mechanist helped a 16 year old kid out by rebuilding the engine after hours in his shop,he told me to go to the junk yard and get a power glide cam and carb. cause they were bigger than the three speed,.10ths over rings on standard pistons lol did it ever have piston slap but ran dam good for many, many years

Now would be the perfect time to put a late model rear in. IMO
You'll want one when its all said and done.

On the chassis I have ben looking for or buying odds and ends that my Lego set either didn't have or I couldn't find. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394980798.007439.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394980812.883692.jpg my dad got a wild hair and pulled this out of storage. We horse traded it for some concrete work. I know it's not hamb friendly but he promised it to my boy for his first car. I figured it would be a good guinie pig on my painting skills. We're planning black on black. All the chrome is pitted so were gona gloss black it... ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394981021.388338.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394981038.838976.jpg
