Bought a Chevy P/U from only pics and a brief description, usually a bad idea but I thought I had enough info and I have been wanting one of these for a long time. And....., It was exactly as described and very solid. Heck it fired right up and drove good too!! It was a good day:) SEE UPDATED PICS THROUGHOUT THREAD

Needs some highway gears though, it has a granny 4 speed and the 235, so 55 is really as fast as it needs to go. Whats the easiest way to fix that? I have heard Chevelle rears are the right width??

I like those old style, steel slots, thats the first ones I ever remember seeing like that in 6 lug, looks like they would shine up pretty good with a little water and S.O.S. pads.

Nice truck! I like the '55 Chevies, car amd 2nd series truck. It would be a dream to have a matching pair.
As for the wheels, I would blast them and paint them.

The plan is steel wheels and wide whites and get it 3 or 4 inches closer to the ground, so the slots got to go!

If you want to keep the six lug in the rear another option is to find a rear axle out of a 1963-1970 chevy c10. They are the same width, are a 12 bolt rear axle, and have factory ratios of 3.07 to 4.10 from the factory. You might even get lucky and find one with a factory eaton posi unit. The only modification needed is to remove the factory long arm type axle perches and weld on new leaf spring perches. I've helped do this mod on two advanced design series trucks as well as a 57 chevy 1/2 ton truck, they fit like they were made for it.

Looks like ya done a test shine on the front wheel, looks pretty good in the pic you should do all of em that way and a little bleach white and some armour all on the tires will go a long way too even if your only gonna sell em.

I was working on the front springs to get it a little lower today and got it down another 1to 2 inches. That's about it without going to a drop axle or changing to IFS.

It was nice to day so I played around with some scallops, didn't turn out too bad.

New front Wide whites are an inch or so shorter and the rears will be about an inch taller, Should give it a nice stance.
