I acquired this TIG welder at the right price, but I have just discovered that all the dials are labelled in Chinese!!! Do we have any Chinese language proficiant HAMBer's on the forum who could tell me what each dial reads. It may also be possible that somebody who knows their way around these machines will also know what they do. I plan to teach myself and it would be helpful to know what they say... Ther are 4 dials being Upper Row Left & Right and Lower Row Left & Right.
Not the same face panel as my welder, however I have sent them an email asking for assistance. Who knows what kind of reply I will get... So if anybody out there has some info please post it until I confirm a reply from China.
I say eat more Chinese take out... I wondered if this would go this way. No problem, great for a little light humour along the way.
Upper left - peak current Upper right - valley current Lower left - pulse frequency Lower right - down time
I only hope it's an American tig made for the Chinese market...wait that can't be right...it's kind of a one way street out there. (Shouda bought a used Miller.)
Take that machine to the nearest Chinese restaurant and I bet they could translate it. Might cost you a small mammal, I mean amount. Damn autocorrect
Its the old joke - I was going to call the company, but there are so many wings and wongs in china it is too easy to wing the wong number... Mammal called long tail bunny!!!
So, on a more serious note since I have this welder with no instruction manual and never TIG welded before what do these dials do for me???
Yes, I've looked at a few items and posts around the internet and have picked up a couple of tips but not much on how to setup the machine. They so so many amps per thou thickness of material, but going by my machine there is no amp reading as such. The guy in a welding shop tells me that this machine wont weld Aluminum. Because of my lack of knowledge at this early stage I am struggling to know exactly what questions to ask. I now understand how to setup the hand piece and have the gas etc all hooked up correctly.
You need an AC/DC machine to do Aluminum. Needing the AC to do Alu. Actually you can weld Alu. with DC straight polarity and Helium gas instead of Argon. But that is when high heat penetration is needed. You want a machine that has the AC control and constant High Frequency. Sorry don't know Chinese.
Here is the cat that I would ask. He might answer if he knows that he has this great audience! http://www.weldingtipsandtricks.com/
I use google translator it works pretty well. I get drawings from Italy and have to use it to understand them.
I've got a Mitech 3 in 1 (Thats Stick, Plasma and Tig) I'll have a look at the controls and see if they are the same layout. Cheers Sarbie in New Zealand
Look at situations from all angles, and you will become more open. Dalai Lama thought this might help.
Yeah, no aluminum, a bit disappointing, but I guess this machine is something to learn on, until I have a stronger opinion about what I really want in a local brand of welder. For now, those dials mean squat to me...
Hi fiftyv8, Got a good laugh out of this one!! Ron Covell has a good beginners type TIG welding DVD. Available everywhere incuding E-Pay. That weldingtipsandtricks website mentioned by 270dodge in post #23 is pretty good. He has TIG info and DVD's available too. Good luck
Great and thanks for the tip. We can't be serious all the time... Hopefully nobody was directly offended.
