I was really in to 57's back then and I loved that car except for the hood and grill bar. To me the hood "sites" and the grill bar were some of the best parts of a 57.
I need y'all's help. Anyone know what brand the knockoffs are? As you can see the drivers side front was seized. We can weld it but the threads are pretty much toast. Anybody got a lead on of off these? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Notice they are smooth with no relief on the tri bars like Halibrands. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Frame is still orange. The currant owner had Gary Howard put the body in primer after fixing some rust issues . Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

I agree it's too bad it's in the state it's in. That's all I can say bout that. It could be back to its bitchin self with little work. It's all there it just needs some restoration and cleaning Everything is chrome! Even the brake adjusters! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Wow. Shocked to see the condition. Although I guess it means someone knocked down a bunch of miles. At least I hope so. And I remember seeing that goat sitting out in the civilian parking lot/field grass almost 30 years ago at Indianapolis Raceway Park during the US Nationals. I recognized it from Hot Rod and stopped to snap a pic. Was surprised to see it there! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
What he said!!! You might try Eric Vaughn of "Real Wheels" fame on the knockoffs. He supplied the wheels for the car. Supossedly the first set he ever produced.
I never understood how incredibly built cars like this end up in such a state of disrepair. What the heck starts the going down hill process? Thanks for the pics! And Tman, thats what makes the world go round huh? =)
Imo, the new wares off, life gets in the way, other things become more important. Considering that it's been 29 yrs. since it was first done, it's in surprisingly good shape. Appears it's been driven hard and enjoied. The owner/owners have done a pretty good job keepin the car intact. How many cars have we seen used and virtually unchanged over 30 yrs.? I just hope that this car will be returned to it's former magazine glory. For me the Flashback '57 is as iconic and inspiring as ( dare I say it? ) the California Kid, Jakes yellow coupe, The Eliminator coupe, and the list could go on. I'm just glad to see it intact after all these years.
i just removed spinners from dads 57 vette that looked a lot like those. he might want to get rid of them, i sure as hell wouldn't let him put them back on! pm me if you're interested.
Wow, like it was said you would not even know that was the car! Glad to see it still around, it really needs the orange paint! Thanks Krupa!
