Currently sitting and rotting in my driveway atleast till the spring... but I saved it from an unloving previous owner. Strait 6'ed 1963 Mercury Comet.

Needs a bunch of pretty work rust removal..... but just had a total mechanical overhaul prior to the previous owners friend died and left it to him. Best part was the trunk was full of alot of the sheet metal that needs replacing and extra trim parts. I got it for next to nothing and I am going to go rat cruiser on it.

Rat cruiser... meaning low buck fun toy.

It is a little too rough to ever be pretty car, by nothing to far from being something that can't be driven around and enjoyed.

  14. I think the term you want to use is "beater". "Rat" has a bad connotation around here.

Oh, and your first post is supposed to be an introduction.

    Nice score, by the way!

It is in the junkyard, but it is safe. Relatively complete (minus the drivetrain) and the title is on my desk at home. Behind it in the pic is a very rusty `39 Plymouth (that I secretly want).

Ryan pretty much killed the "intro police" by saying intros are not required and he doesn't get why people want them....

Found quite a stash today. Owners had them for 30 plus years. Possible purchase in the future...I just started (as my wife calls it) "courtin'".

  21. Not exactly correct. This is from Ryan's "Read This First" posting:

"While we don't require "introductions," some members do appreciate them so it might be a good idea for you to do one here. Just introduce yourself and let folks know what you are all about."

Barn Hunter: That's a great find! Hope people can snag some of those prizes.

  23. Look at it this way... You and your friends are sitting in your garage enjoying a few cold beverages, and telling lies. Pretty much what we have here.
Someone none of you know walks into your garage, sits down, and joins the conversation. Awkward? An intro breaks the ice....

WTF is going on here? This is a thread for SITTING AND ROTTING...not an intro discussion. Get a grip and move on.

Thing is, this is an open, public thread. Nobody is just "walking into your garage". Awkward is people thinking this is "their garage".

This is more like standing at a huge gear head get together out in a public park. I have many times joined in a conversation or had someone join into one I was involved in at shows like the Roundup. Never once have I had a temper tantrum because someone didn't do an intro before speaking. Like Ryan said- kinda weird.

And here is that 40 going off to scrap, I guess this makes me a horrible person for scrapping the remains, or would I be horrible to keep it rotting in my yard, or would I be horrible to try and build it, or maybe if I sold it I would be horrible because it's so rough... LOL

But I assure you the body was no longer attached to the floor due to rust, what was left was very badly bent and the frame was rusted through badly, and I took all of the good parts off of it, and some not so good, I even listed it online for a few months just in case someone needed or wanted something off of it. But even still I hate scrapping anything old.

Yeah, but you could've saved the upper right rear roof corner...JUST in case someone needed it in twenty years. LOL.
