Just picked up a 1948 plymouth from my buddy. It has an older restoration done to it and its in pretty good shape. Runs and drives good. Now to give it a better stance i want to lower it as much as possible without doing too many mods and without going to airbags. i was thinking just cut the front springs and get lowering blocks for the back. is that the best way to slam it?? also looking for a visor and some cool full hub caps thatll fit these wheels. any suggestions. maybe some yellow fog lights? any other cool ideas? thanks
I like them better than the Fords and at least as much as the Chevys. Put duals on it and lower it. Some pin striping or tasteful scallops and you're in the money.
My 41 Coupe had 1 coil cut from the front and 2" blocks on the rear, road well and with 195/75 and 235/75 Coker whitewalls on 6 & 7" chrome smoothies everything cleared fine......lower but not scraping is how I like them........tho' the 40 Dodge is just with a tyre & engine weight rake..........nice Plymouth you have btw............andyd
Love these cars, nice find. They seem to be getting more popular, I need to get one soon. Keep us updated. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I would absolutely second that! I have never understood why visors are on hot rods and customs. As far as lowering, as someone above mentioned, drill out the rivets that hold the spring pocket to the bottom of the lower arm and make a 1" spacer, put it back together. If it's still not low enough trim a bit of spring and try again.
thanks guys. i like the look of it just need to add the skirts, visor and lower it as much as possible while being practical. and for caps maybe something like this?
I have 3 inch blocks on mine in the rear and stock height up front and It doesn't look any lower in the back than the front. I don't get it Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I guess what I'm wondering is what you guys do to get it low in the back besides blocks? Is there a way I can get more of a tail dragger stance without bags? Bigger blocks? Biggest ive found is 4 inch. I think one more inch of drop won't be enough for me Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
This is an old picture but here's how mine sits. It had the 3" blocks in back when i got it. My front end is bone stock. I noticed that yours looks like it sits higher in the rear. That explains why the 3 inch blocks in mine make it look like it sits fairly level. Hopefully we can get some more input.
