Heard a story about the SOHC engine in this gold car from Pro Stock Gordie Rivera at his speed shop in Yuma, AZ. I was selling my product and asking about local Willys. It's owner did a welding repair favor for the Ford factory team that was at their local track. (Back when any city worth it's salt had a drag strip) Some time later, a truck showed up at his shop with a crate from Ford. You guessed it, a "Thank You" crate cammer.
I saw this car in person at Jim Pankratz' place in Calapatria, CA, before he passed (RIP). He and Don Waldron (Rods West) were playing with it at the time.

Looking for a 33 to drive? Wayne Stephens has consigned his coupe to the Russo and Steele auction coming up in Phoenix. If you like no reserve bidding, check out the pics on page 68, post #1349. Mopar guys take notice.

This was tony Dunn's coupe, the old Agitator. In NJ now, running on the street.

    That's the one!
Just out of curiosity....any plans to do a wild "Agitator" style paint job once the orange starts to show some wear..?
    Absolutely love that car!

    Scott,

The paint IS showing a lot of wear...but I don't have plans for a reprint right now...lack of funds. I'd love to restore the car to the Agitator configuration but it would be a huge job. Since that last pic was shot I've removed the running boards, bobbed the rear fenders and it has mag Hali's with M/T tires. I built headers for it that resemble the straight pipes that it raced with, and I took out Tony's small block and put another 350 in it...out of my '40 coupe-retired race motor. It runs with an old tunnel ram and 2 660 holleys on av gas...lots of fun on the street.
So, while it's a little worn looking up close...it's loud, relatively fast and tons of fun to drive. I'm happy with it for now, maybe someday I'll have the money to redo the car.

That's great!Im so glad to hear that the car is being driven hard and enjoyed!
If you ever find yourself losing interest or wanting to start another project, definitely give me a call.
I have been in love with that car since I was a kid,and obsessed with the Agitator car for about the same amount of time.
When I found out they were the same car I almost flipped! It was like fate...

So yeah,if the car ever goes up for sale,I definitely want first shot at the car.Ive been collecting early Hemi parts,Superchargers, injection stuff,Hydro transmissions, etc for a while now,and I would love to give them a good home.

I just wish I took pics of all the 33-36 Willy's that I used to see in Chuck Finder's shop when I used to hang around it in the late 80's, early 90's. Half these cars pictured probably have Finder's built chassis !

If you've got any real slick welder/fabricators in your area they could build one for you from an old bent stock axle (cause it would be a shame to cut apart a good stock axle) and a straight length of chromoly tubing.

Any street rod pics of 33's with a late model 4 cyl or V-6 ? I think one with a GM ECOTEC 4cyl would be neat.

    Not a V6 but an inline six. Mine has a 300 / C6 / 3.50 9".

Runs 13 at the drags - on street tires. The interesting thing about this car is it was raced way back when with a six - the Kelison fiberglass front clip had three holes cut in it for carb clearance. I wish I knew who built it originally. It came from the East Coast.

Not a 33 but a 36 Willys with a Chevy 4 cyl. and glide. I drove this car all over and if I built one again I would the same thing only turbo-charge it.
