Funny this thread came up. I'm going to look at a T today with intent to buy.

Not this one which is not a mid 60's build either I'm sure. I just wanted everyone to see that putting Farmall tractor gas tanks on a T might be acceptable but please never put a tractor grill on one.

 

i really hate negative comments about someone's ideas or cars and almost never post one, but the gas tanks just aren't doin' it for me...

Can't say they look any better on a T than a grille would.

Sorry, but IMO, that's proof that you shouldn't always, "Do it any way you want. It's your car." Cool color though.

There are some very cool looking rods in this tread.
If a rod's design looks good to the builder and he enjoys it,super for him. Later when sold its time to make design to what ever new owner likes. There designs will have a good or bad inpack on resale. As for my own rods,I never built any just to sell,and always think of them as never really fully done. All most always find cool things on rods that I don't always care for over all look of though,just need to work at looking some for the good parts.

 

It's been a while since there were any updates on this thread. Anyone have anything new(ish) to add?

I like it. A "T" always looks best with a shorter wheelbase, IMHO.

 

Got assembly started on my 26 RPU project, starting to look like a car!

I found this Bird T-Bucket kit in Michigan. Its in red flake, came 1969. Its on its way to Sweden now. I will build it in early 60s style.

 

Showrail--That is an old "Bird Engineering" kit. I had one . Someone has welded a new front perch on it. Oh; be sure to box the frame in. Good Luck

 

Here is some pictures of the frame. I think the front spring pearch is original on the kit frames, on the build it your self plans they used the front crossmember to mount the front spring to save some work. Wonder if there is still many Bird Buckets around? and how many they did?

 

Butch, You may be right about the front pearch, when I look at the pictures I can see holes in the crossmember too, and brackets for the shocks fits better for the spring in the crossmember.
