so, if you lose 2 forums, are the new mods out of a job? :D

  4. Me personally I scroll through and read whatever title grabs my attention! I like all kinds of styles, years, and cars rods to customs to stock! NO TUNERS!! haha so glad I found The H.A.M.B!! peace and axle grease!

  5. I've found myself getting lost and/or confused with the "Big HAMB", "Discussions & Happenings" & "Traditionally Styled & Stockers" forums. It's all just too damn much - especially when starting a thread. I thought on Day One that sorting all of the archives into separate areas would be next to impossible.

Traditional Hot Rods and Traditional Customs is easy to figure out. But sorting out all that other mess is a pain in the ass... & I think it's unnecessary. Cut it to 3 - The HAMB (that contains everything) and the two traditional-only forums.

Quite honestly, I liked it before the change better but I am, admittedly, not a hard core "traditional guy" so I like some of the slightly O/T stuff. I want to log onto one forum and see it all.

I tend to only look at the aggregate forum now and the traditional hot rods forum. I like the old one big forum best.

With the new way it seems like more of a pain to search for things across all the forums. It always takes me into one of the specialized forums or doesn't bring up all results unless I remember to click on all of the forums in the search. Then I need to remember to go back to the aggregate so I don't get stuck only looking at one of the smaller forums. Maybe I am doing it wrong?

I think I am missing out on reading a lot more now, not looking into the customs, stockers, or discussions and happening forums, but I might be in the minority. So, ya I like the idea of rolling the latter 2 forums into the big hamb forum.

  7. Sounds good. Pick one and stick with it! You're driving us old guys nuts!! ;):D

I actually REALLY like having the "Traditionally "Styled" Hot Rods, Customs, & Production Cars" section and implore you to keep it! Maybe rename it "Traditionally "Styled" Hot Rods & Customs" but I really think, even if it's just threads moving forward that will get filed in there, that it's a value added feature that will help spread the gospel.

I have a question/suggestion. Would there be a way for you to enable OPs to take the burden off of the moderators and move their own threads?

I tend to only use the mobile app and just scroll the new/unread posts column. Specific subforums haven't made a difference to me except when starting posts.

Although I have been guilty about whining over details I seriously hold firm to it's your house, your rules, do as you wish.

I've just been looking at the old Hokey Ass Message Board forum and thought it grouped all threads together... Now I understand that it was just all threads that have been grouped under one of the (new) sub-forums.

Now that I look at the "Discussions & Happenings" forum title, I see that I've missed some things. Perfect example is the stickied threads like HAMB Auctions and the Friday Art Shows.

I think simplifying with just the two strictly traditional sub-forums is a great idea; leaving everything else grouped together under the main heading and still seeing the traditional threads.

    Good idea!

Me too, mostly...except that I do appreciate the "pure goodness" of the Traditional Hot Rods and the Traditional Customs forums when I want it.

So no problem here. I think the 3 forums would work well, with a little less confusion for the membership and much less work for you guys.

If anybody has a problem with you doing anything they should keep it to themselves. Go with the Kiss program, Keep It Simple Stupid. I say that with the much respect!

That makes it easier for me,Ryan. I like the idea.

  23. I like the hard core traditional rods and customs cats. That's why i'm here. All thou i don't build that way i love watching the builds. Then i can cruise over to what ever else is going on. 3 is good but works pretty well right now so why go through all the work. It's fine.:)

A few said to "give it time" the way it is now.

I think it was perfectly planned right from the start; the "insprired section" is about those cars and their parts and questions. Happenings and discussions, is not about a particular car by itself.

I think it will run perfect, if given time for all to get used to it.

But I don't know if it causes more staff hours to keep it this way.

    Two thoughts come to mind:

    1. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    2. If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

    Pick one

I liked the old way the best. I am interested in Hot Rods, Customs art shows whatever. I like the general forum and just open what seems to catch my interest at the time. Even if I go to the new posts it seems like a lot less has been going on since the change. I find myself not getting on here as much of late, and it seems like either I am missing a ton of stuff or else there just isn't as much going on lately.

  30. I have never "fit" the HAMB in the truest sense because back in "the day", if we had had alternators and disc brakes you can bet your ass we would have used them.
Having said that, I can appreciate the folks that are hard core wanting to build to a specific time period and don't want to scroll through a bunch of "every day" hot rods to peruse what they want to see.
For me, it's not much of a change because I hardly ever get away from my subscriptions.
When I come on, that's the first place I go. I have several, some that actually are from the traditional side. If I want to spend more time on the HAMB, then I go surfing...

Oh, BTW, Ryan, please keep the cutoff at 64. That's one thing that I believe, if it was changed would dilute the whole thing down the drain.
