History 1940 Buick coupe kustoms any pics

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by scott49mercury, Oct 16, 2013.

  1. I have a friend who just offered me a 1940 Buick coupe. I am just wondering if anybody has any pics of a 40 Buick in kustom form sense that would be what I would turn it into. I have not made the deal yet so I am just playing with the idea if it would be a good project or not. I also thought it might make an nice carson top car so any suggestions would be helpful on my decision.

  2. Janine Kutja did a perfect rendering of a 40 Buick Custom, I'm just getting started on a '41-good luck!

  3. Thanks those pics give me some good ideas. I am going over to look at it today and see what it looks like. I think it would make a bad ass custom but don't know what he is going to want for it.

I have a bunch of '41 Buick shots because that's what I'm building, but the lines are very similar.

Here's a Carson-topped '41...drawing a blank on the owner's name; the Barry Mazza version of the Pisano/Ogden Buick that Kurt McCormick owns; Mighty Sam's old chopped coupe, and my in-progress coupe (which I'm going to chop just like Sam's because his was just plain bitchin).

I am currently Building a 1940 Buick. It has been chopped and a 1940 cadillac grill has been flipped upside down and installed.

Here is another 1940 pic of my Buick. It is chopped about 3inches in front and 4 or so in the back. The rear window is laid forward 5 or 6 inches. The car is a 1940 Buick Special Business Coupe.

I think they make a great looking custom. here are a few pics of mine. chopped 4" layed the back window down, added drip rails off a 37 ford donor to extend the lines of the rail, made some skirts. go for it

more info on the build can be seen here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=233682

I got pictures from this years Abombers as well but Fotki is currently not showing those pictures , this year Bert showed the 40ties? Packard grill and -41 Cad bumper in the front and -41 Cad guards with taillights in the rear , sweet custom !
