    Hey everyone,

I am checking around to see what solvent is being used,I am sure that after reading the label on the contents of the stuff Harbor Freight & Northern Tools sells I don't want that fluid near me to breath or wash parts with, also factor in where it comes from who knows if what the label has printed is even in there!!

Used gas ,mineral spirits and ??? when I was a teen but now things are a little more important.

Thanks up front for your ideas of what is out there that works.

  4. I still use mineral spirits. Actual cleaning solvent was better, but I haven't been able to find it for years. The biodegradable cleaners work too, but not as well IMO and many of those are harmful to aluminum parts.

I like mineral spirits, it has a high flash point & dries wery well as it is more volatile than a lot of other petroleum products. I have wised up at last and always wear glove...now.

um, i think you mean LESS volatile... volatile means evaporation at LOWER temps

Does seem that the more volatile, the quicker to evaporate, maybe you're remembering the "lower the boiling point" part of the def, Fiddy.
