Projects 1951 mercury build

My wife has yet to ride in my car, I need to extend the exhaust which I dumped at the rear axle too loud, and I need to get some interior in it.

 

When's the paint coming?

 

I get home from Iraq on friday, and I will be at rodcrafters monday morning to pick out the color. I also have to meet the powdercoater for the frame and other tnings, and then meet with upholster so we can start those plans as well. So I will post more next week for sure

Do dark blue, so you, Jesse James, Terry Hegman, Nick Rogers and me all look the same.

 

Pro Stock we r leaning towards the candy blue but with a little twist. Larry already has the pieces painted for me to look over. We have tried with several different base colors to see what we like. I want a dark blue, but not to dark. I want people to be able to see the mods and not be dark that they are distracted by the whole car.

I can see how a chopped Merc would be distracting,haha....

 

Ok guys I got home and got to see the mercury. Larry and the guys are doing a hell of a job on her. I have attached some pics. I am so stoked about the progress.

Nope we decided that those colors did not quite do it for the build. So we are trying some more colors.

Me too we are going to get the rear quarter windows fitted in so they popout like the orginals and then off to paint. We are so stoked. We are hoping to get it done before August so we can put it in the builders choice in Louisville Ky for Larry and the crew at Rodcrafters. Then it will be at Hot August Nights HELL YEA

Wow, that looks like an awful lot of metallic. Are you sure?

I thought the same thing but with the flash of the camera it looks like that but there is no metalflakein it at all. This is a new pearl that HOK has come up with.

Thanks for the complements on the color choice. Never thought it would be so hard to pick a color, but wow is it ever. We didn't want any other run of the mill paint that has been used over and over again so we decided if we were going to do this kustom then we must use kustom paint. It should accent the body lines without hiding the modifications done to the car. We will see in a few weeks when she has color on her.
