Yeah you can see the gap but I like it. I plan on doing the same with mine.

  2. There were frame mods in the rear. He's just good enough that they don't jump right out at you. ;)

Well yeah the rear mods are kind of a given. I noticed the imperfect gap between the body/frame and the fact that the cowl didn't line up perfect with the frame. I think the car is perfect with the imperfections if that makes any sense haha.

What a great batch of photos. I knew John was there with his tub but didn't know the PNW hand another representative there.

And last month at Vantage for the East/West Reliability run.

That race on the beach looks like more fun than one bunch of guys and gals should have in one day's time.

Best regards from the other Hellmuth brothers, from the midwest. The event on the sands look terrific. I did make it to the rodders Journal show at Pimlico and am negotiating with the editors of RJ for the use of many more of my Kodachrome slides from the 50s and 60s in future issues,

  11. Hey guys, thanks for the compliments on the 78b roadster. The only frame mod is 1 1/2" out of the rear crossmember to get the rear kick up to fit in the wheel wells right. I plan on doing a build thread on the car soon. My brother and I thrashed on it for 6 weeks to get done for the TROG and I haven't had time to post the details. This was the best event I have ever been to.

    thanks, Jim

Won 9 out of 10 races and got a really big check. beat 3 Flatty V8's and a bike. Only loss was to a Flat track race bike.

  15. Your car really looked the part. Looked right at home on the beach and you had your shit together. Car was running right, looked good and ran great. Glad you got to take home the big check! :)
