OK, just got back from fixing the roof (cutting it off next winter to do a folding top conversion) but could not run around this summer with rust holes in it. the coils need to settle but the front edge of the fenders (behind the front wheel) is sitting at 4.25" off the pavement. should end up being around 4 or slight under once the springs a broke in.

the roof is in primer, not sure I want to spend the extra money to put it into color (white or ??) for for a few months. but its hard not wanting the roof shiny..

You car and I respect that but dude hardtops are hard to find and it makes me sad to think your gonna cut the roof off of it, especially when your build so far looks so killer! Sorry to put in my two cents.

Clean work man! looks really good! I would like some specs on the chop and some more pics if you have, also what's the plan for the rear glass? I have really been entertaining the idea of keeping the wrap around rear glass when I chop my 54 210 and sinking it but I need some detailed pics of how it's done cause I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree....:D:D:D

Hey bud,The chop was only 1 1/2" straight across.(F/R).Went with laminated glass F/R so it can be cut down.(No sinking of glass) Lot of metal moving for an 1 1/2 I know but didn't want the low, laid back look.Should be plenty of threads on this for the most part anyway.Pm me and I'll do my best to help you out.:)

Still a ways to go, but getting there. Originally a 49 chevy 4 door... It was parked (wedged) on a steep hill and the whole back end was corroded. So i had some fun turning it into a truck... Chopped it 3 inches, etc.

Lol... And my 49 4 door to pickup truck conversion thread is deleted cuz it's not traditional... Go figure.... Cool idea BTW.

Here is my bucket of bolts. Has a 4" chop and everything shaved, hood is 1 piece, lowered a few inches. Pretty bare bones right now, but it runs and I drive it any chance I get. I was planning a big overhaul this winter, but about 2 months ago my girlfriend tells me our little family of 2 will become 3! So now getting the interior will be my main focus this winter and installing (hidden) child seat anchors before May 2014. I hope that last statement wasnt too sacrilegious for you traditionalists.

If you have the skills to do the job then cut it! Hard tops are ugly. The C pillar cuts back like a dogleg and ruins the flow of the roof.
