Are F-1 and F-100 front hubs & backing plates the same ?

  2. backing plates the same F1 and F100 , drums/hubs are different because of their offset.

Will they work on 37-41 spindles ?

  4. sure will....with the same inner bearing/seal swap as f100

  5. The bearing kits speedway sells will work with both F1 and F100 the location of the hub flange in relation to the drum offset are different. They are both Bendix style they will both work on '37-'41 and '46-'48 style spindles.

I was wondering if the f1 and f2 brake shoe pivot is the same, I am needing an f2 brake shoe pivot bolt and nut.

I don't have an F2 to compare to, but this is the F1. My guess would be that the F2 is larger.

Yes, I have found out they are different.

  13. Besides the difference in shape an F-1/F-100 anchor bolt is shorter than a
F-2/F-250/F-350 anchor bolt. While it would fit the hole in the backing plate, it would not extend far enough out from the plate to match the shoes, and if it were spaced out far enough with a washer, the flat sided shank would not extend far enough out the back to engage the special back-up washer.

Can I use 46 F1 rear backing plates and drums on a 39?

  15. Ford didn't make F-1's till '48.

So if it is a '46 it has regular Lockheed brakes which will fit a '39 rear.

And if it is an F-1 it is '48-'52 and the rear backing plates and drums will not fit
    a '39.

    RichB,
So 46 brakes are basically the same as 40s?
I was told the front and rear ends came from a 46 that was street rodded.

    thanks

  17. Basically an improved version of the '40's. Floating lower anchor, different shoe support and hold-downs, and larger bore wheel cylinders.
