Every time I turn around there's something else that's got to be done. Now it's the running board covers. The donor Merc had some good lower door piece's.

Hey guy's, I need some help getting these big clunky door latch's set up for poppers before I get this thing wired. I've done a search and I can't find anything that describes clearly what is usually done. HELP!

Getting these things tacked on. They're gonna' work.

The door latch mech's on this car has more mass than the '50 (jr's car). How do I set the pull up on these things? A pully? Where is that popper located?

    Jer.
If you go to the search function on the tradtional discussion board there is a post about this very thing.
It was posted by Ryan on 10-10-12. It is titled "School me on door poppers"

Lots of info there. I would post a link but I don't know how.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks. I have gone through those threads HOWEVER, going through them again has helped. I do think that hearing from the '41-'48 Ford guys is what I need.

The 1/4 piece's on the donor Merc weren't usable so I had to fab up some extensions.

  11. Are you going to finish out the door jamb area or leave it all open like Jesse's car? I have been trying to figure out a way to finish mine out after I extend the door bottoms like you have.

Well Matt you've forced me to realize that I haven't asked Jesse about that particular item. I hadn't thought about it. Riks archives shows pics of snooki's car open. I just thought that it was the same. I'll ask.

    Man, I dig this build!

It's got me pretty pumped for my '41 project.

Almost done with the welding. The nose is in position for the attachment at the lower cowl area. This will be cut to take nose off the final time for clean up.

  17. It's funny how many details you notice on a car while it's being built that don't necessarily get lost, but fade in the scope of the entire build if you only see the finished product.

I find myself looking at archive photos, and stock photos. Continually surprised (and impressed) at all the huge "little things" that were done here, and on the original.

The difference between filler and lead. Compare to Palle's Jack Stewart resto. The front end is connected at lower cowl only. It will be separated and removed.

Now that the sheet metal fits, (I already know about the hood) one more look at the f. bumper. It's doable.

Gotta' take aunt Betty to the airport so early post. Here's the nose off for cut in and clean up. It's upside down on the left. Tomorrow we're going to push her outside and start her up for the first time.
