1960 ford fuel gauge/temp gauge issues

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by lcpland, Oct 2, 2013.

  1. So in my 1960 ford falcon the generator was swapped for an alternator. whoever did the swap also removed the voltage regulator. since I've had the car i have fixed a few things and have been stuck on the fuel gauge and temp gauge not working. i swapped the fuel sending unit but still didn't work. after looking through the manual found out that the fuel gauge and temp gauge are powered by the voltage regulator. since the voltage regulator is gone, how do i get those gauges to work correctly, i cant imagine im the first one with this issue. just an fyi the wiring is good.
    thanks

I think its the constant voltage regulator behind the dash that runs the gauges ??
It's suppose to provide a steady voltage to the gauges.
Does fuel gauge read full?? If it does I've read the constant voltage regulator is bad. Good luck
