This is my first post here. I am asking for some help in locating 2 rear tail
lights for my car. 5 years ago I bought this car as is. It is a '49 Mercury that
has been slightly customized. Frenched head lights, shaved door handles, and
custom rear tail lights. The body work is done and the paint is finished and it
has nice buckets to receive ( I assume) flush tail lights. I have found original
tail lights but they are too small and sit on the surface of the body. I'm
thinking these buckets were from a tail light kit that would include flush
    lenses and maybe gaskets. The buckets measure 3 1/2" tall , 1 3/4" deep , 13
1/4" wide, straight across not on the curve.
I have been all over the Internet and am not having any luck. I am hoping a
member here has used or seen these lights and can point me in the right
direction. Thank you for any help you can give me. Tom

I don't know how long ago that was done,or if it could of held what ever kind of stock light?.,But being a old rod and custom guy myself from the 50's and early 60's,there were some stuff we did,not done now; Hand making trim of alum and polishing that to chrome like along with some 1/8in. semitransparint red plastic sheet to make a homemade lenz,we though was pretty cool .:D:cool:
    Just a idea 4 ya.

    5window--- I've tried taillightking thanks.

    C. Montgomery--- You may be on to something. I'm going to try that.

dana barlow--- I was thinking about doing that but I'd like something DOT approved.

unkledaddy--- No.. I talked to him last week. He can't remember before a year ago.

    Thanks everyone, Tom

Yes, I think C. Montgomery and Doctor Detroit figured it out. I found a pair on Ebay and purchased them. I'll get them next week but will go on vacation for 2 weeks. When I get back I'll put some photos up.
    Thank you everyone.
