  3. the only true real deal track is george rays hot rod wild cat drag strip in paragould ark. true heads up racing only. built in 1962 in georges back yard it is a unreal trip back in time. the time slips are still hand written. look up nitro hallucination to get a idea of what its like. i have gone there several times. it should be on everyones bucket list. tracks like this no longer exist. there have been several listed that are very cool but nothing like george rays.

Thompson Dragway in Thompson, OH. Feels like I'm in the 60s when I'm there for the Gasser Reunion-409 Shootout.

It used to be any street that was a 1/4 mile long and out of town. I only raced at one. That was Fremont in Northern Calif. Up here we had Half Moon Bay, and Lodi. All 3 are closed. Sacramento and Infinnity race Way are active.

Quaker City in Salem Ohio. My Girlfriend, now the wife, watched a lot of racing there in the mid 60's. They had a bunch of the big boys show up. Sox and Martin, Eddie Shartman, Dave Kanoffle,,Oties Speed Shop, Little Red Wagon, Arlen Vanke, Hemi Under Glass and many others.

I do not know if this is to north to be for the west coast but here in Montana we have Lewistown Raceway and has been running sense the mid to late fifty's. Its a small town of about 6,000 people and has a lot of room!

Another vote for Famoso in Bakersfield. If you do start considering 1/8 mile strips check out Eagle field near Firebaugh Ca.

For me it would be Lapeer International Dragway in Lapeer Michigan. It was founded in 1968, still belongs to the original owner and still runs weekly. It's also my home track.

Beach Bend Bowling Green Kentucky the only covered drag strip with chairs not bleachers I know of. Number 1 in my estimation. Home of the NHRA Hot Rod reunion.
