Dale - this is your type of hot rod! We will go over to see it the next time you are down. This rod shows very nice detail in the build, and a lot of thought went into putting the various parts together. The best information we have is that it was almost finished - things like the front shocks still need to be mounted - just small stuff like that. Maybe this info is wrong, so if any of the local rodders have something to add, please chime in here. The pics below show the "Chevrolet" on the Model T grille and the "powered by Ford" just so there is no mistake about the powerplant (ok, that part is a result of Photoshop!), and the nicely done interior.
More pics - lots of chrome done back in the day. The rearend center section, radius rods, rear spring and torque tube all chromed - not to mention the parts on the motor including the oil pan that received the chrome treatment. Oh if we could only go back to 1960's chroming costs....
Trying to find a way to reply without using the word "cool" (hasn't been used yet........has it?) Anyway, this has got to be a very rare find. Usually one of these long time storage deals yield a car that has been used up and in need of a complete rebuild. Certainly not the case here...................!!! Frank
Frank - you are right, it is very unusual to find a car that has been stored away so long and is not in need of a complete rebuild. John is a lucky guy to find it. Here is one more pic - this time showing the unfinished interior.

That is just too nifty for words. A very well built from all appearances 60's hot rod with a dressed up flathead that hasn't been changed for the sake of change. That it has obviously been well kept and taken care of all these years even though it was never finished is something in it's self and thanks to those who preserved it.
R the pedals a swing away firewall mount style? I thought that was more of a modern thing..guess not...great car, going to be fun!
The swing pedals were a common feature in 60's builds, using the Chev truck dual master cylinder to operate the brakes and clutch.

I suspect the roadster has had some updates done by more recent owners - like the powder-coated rims and maybe the tires. But the paint is the same as it was when I last saw the car about 25 years ago. This old rod remains in good shape because it has always been kept indoors. Can't say the same for my 53 Ford custom convertible - a car I owned in the early 70's and sold in 1977. Bought it back in early 2008. That car was never kept inside during the years it was gone, and it really deteriorated as a result. You can check it out and how it looks today on another thread I have here.
