lots of creativity here, looks like it will be a lot of fun to run. the 327 look good.

  2. Love those Larks! I stuffed a '66 327 in my '62 Lark. It was great performance wise. The car weighed less than 3,000 lbs. Yours should be a rocket ship with that set-up. Better add wheelie bars!

I think here in our own little mecca, in the San Gabriel Valley, we've got some of the most talented car guys in the nation !! Some years back, a magazine gathered a group of gassers, and altereds for a magazine shoot, behind Hastings Ranch Theater. I know there were some of you guys there 'cause I saw your cars!. Most of the only pictures I got, were of Augie and I playing around on the freeway afterwards. Anyone recall? If you saw some of these streeters, you'd have been in awe of what was being driven out on the street that night. Truly bitchin, and it's be great to throw a date like that together again, and meet up somewhere for the evening. Huh??

You are doin my dream car I want it! it is a bad mofo lookin forward to the progress

  6. I got one going myself!!! Won't be moving the rear axle, but did scoot the front ahead a couple inches! Got a 413/ torqueflite combo in it. What are you going to use for steering????

  7. Love the build skills you have. Going to be a killer car when you are done! When you are done and driving it, Studebakers name will be resurrected.

A group of us ended up meeting at paul solizs house a couple months later for another phoot shoot.... Great turnout and we got to make some passes down pauls street..lol

I will most likely end up doing a cross steer setup with vega box.......The steering and the cage are the next things I want to get done on the car.

Oh man, I love it! About 20 years ago I started
    building a similar project - also a gasser-style '59
Lark, but with a stock wheelbase and slightly less
    engine set-back. I had a tunnel-rammed 440
Chrysler and a clutch-flyte ready to go into it, but
due to a move and a career change, I ended up
selling the car before it was even 50% finished.

I worked on some of the other projects in the shop so I wasn't able to get much done on the lark this week.
I went and picked the grill up from the chrome shop and pulled out some parts for cleaning like the v-gate shifter and the americans i,m going to run in the rear but that was about it..........Going to try to get a jump on this thing monday morning.

I glad to see other people are doing Larks. I wish I had the balls to do to mine what you did to yours. It looks badass!

Nice build. My first Lark was the Deceptive Lark. 1959 Lark Wagon. Ran at Lyons in the gasser classes. Best luck was with a 259 Stude engine with Weind 2X2 manifold and Howards cam. Low 13's and set track record several times.
Next build never got finished. After my max wedge car got wagged up at OCIR I wanted to go lighter. Got the Lark for free and decided to go Altered style gasser. 25% set back and was going to be awesome. Life set back skunked the deal. Watching your build will be a small consolation. Thanks for building it.

Picture was taken in 1971 at Lyons on the first day we got the record. It was still street driven too.
