Ford has borrowed from other 'family' designs for years....look at pix of Ford sedans and T-birds from mid-50s. Designers are noted for adopting popular 'looks' from one car to enhance the style of another. Been going on for years. I must admit that I had never noticed how similar/identical that main grille crosspiece is on these two cars .

Yea, we needed a '61/'62/'63 Thunderbird picture thread. All the pic threads on the HAMB & no T-Bird bullet love.

One of my favorites, pic pulled off the 'net somewhere:

  5. Designed by the same team...

Even the British Fords got the treatment

Elwood Engel's team was responsible for the stainless banding along the crown lines of T birds Lincolns and Mercs in that era. He went to Chrysler around 64 and you can see that same influence in the cars there till about 68. The Turbine car even looks like the T birds cousin...

    Here's my '62 I picked up a couple weeks ago. Runs a 302/C6 combo.

302? Wow, fairly heavy for that engine. I have a 71 Custom with a 302 stick, and it runs really well, but I believe the stick helps it out.

Anyone ever 429/460 one of these?

Here's mine from Wisconsin. Older kustom from mid-'90's. All asymmetrical styling. Running the original 390 with a C6. Might be looking for a new home...

No love out there for the Bulletbirds?

This one belongs to a HAMB'r if my memory serves correctly:

Do not, under any circumstances, change one thing on that car. Ever.
