I have a 55 Desoto that I have installed a 700r4 to the back of the 291 with help from the hemi hotheads adapter plate. Got her up and running and have one small problem to solve. How to properly attach the tv cable to the factory 4 barrel. has anyone else done this? If so any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
I had a lot of help from the HAMB to solve my T700R4 issues which can be found on the thread link below. I ended up making my own carby throttle shaft plate that attaches the end of the cable and accelerator linkage. The bracket arm pictured is the one I disregarded. I also purchased a cable kit from Bowtie which turned out in my case to be of little use to match my carby details even though I provided them with all the carby data. However the carby sandwich plate they supplied was great to use to hold the cable outer in position. I have also attached several pic's of my setup which I am sure will help you. The trick was to make the throttle shaft plate using the exact dimensions shown in the drawings. I have since made a similar plate for another engine carb setup I am running on my Cadillac flathead project and it was much easier to do 2nd time around. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=659269 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=789118 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=366906
lokar makes several adapters that extend the lower carb linkage ears to help properly set the cable. plus cable kits .
