So I am not sure what taillights to run on my A. It is going to be a 60's show rod type build.I would post pics if my computer wasn't screwing up. The car is chopped has magnesium five spokes out front, Chrome steelies rear, early look SBC with a 4-71, and 6x2. I would like to see pics of cool tail treatment on custom A's
No question really - '59 Caddy bullets! - 6 of 'em should be enough! Frenched way back in almost flush of course!
"60s show rod" and with 5 spokes, sounds mid 1960s-up...more or less. Show rods for Autorama generally went with more modern lights, not stuff that was "in" back in the 50s. It's so easy to get the details "period-confused" in these modern times, because we have subliminal views of all the decades in our minds. We tend to mix decades as we like certain features of each time frame. Mix them up, and you have Y2K builds. Very few cars really are built "period correct", as it is very hard to get it all correct.
how bout a "68 mercury cougar, all the way across under the trunk lid !!!!? NOT !! It's rain'ng .... I am bored..
It's a coupe, and it will have a mid 60's vibe to it. I have a 348 I can run in it as well, I am a little up in the air on the motor right now. The blower motor is in it right now.
Yeah, i'm leaning that way, the spindle mounts are what has me leaning toward the v belt driven blower.
I just saw your spindle mounts on the other thread, so maybe a drag car autorama build with the blower is a better choice?
Yeah, I don't know why I can't post pics of the car, but I can the wheels. The blower is cool, I quit messing with the car and built a different on, cause I can't make up my damn mind. But I am going to finish the A up, and change it up later if I feel like it.
I had thought about using these, but am looking at some different ideas to keep it all pre 1948 parts. Rod
noclubjoe has it right. '58 chevy tails are perfect for that early-mid '60s vibe. 64-65 mustang tailights for a late '60s look. Anything earlier than 1950 wouldn't look right. Those would have been considered obsolete and (gasp) ugly by the '60s.
What about 60s Chevy fleet side pick up. Use the bezels too. They make them new also. Or better yet. Corvair taillights. right size and round. mount on flat surface too.
Im running a pair of 36 Chrysler Airflow taillights on my tudor, pretty hard to come by now and can be bloody pricey..but they look damn good.
I agree. Look good and easy to source. http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/9000...&cagpspn=pla&gclid=CPi6jqyb6bkCFatj7AodNQgAiw
