Thought you guys might enjoy this. Here's a few shots of my dads old altered, they ran it around the minnesota area in the late 60s-70s until he sold it to a guy named lance hamey.

Do you know if Bob Butterley lettered the car? Bob signed his work Carob. It looks like the style of "S" he used on the gold-leaf SIMONS.

Love the altererd's and they always put on the best show.

Nice looking car and a real trip down memory lane.

    Thanks Jimbo

Don't know who lettered the car, I've been trying forever to get him to dig pictures out. Hopefully I'll have some more soon!

He was telling me about the "crash box" trans...three speed trans turned two speed with every other tooth ground off on second. I guess you launched the car, pulled back as hard as possible on the shifter and stabbed the clutch briefly-all while sitting on top of a rear end. I have no idea how these guys kept the tiny wheelbase pointed straight let alone shifted at the same time! ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1380093346.501632.jpg

Sorry for the bad glare, but this is the only side profile I can find.
