I just finished up installing a GM 8.2 10 bolt axle under my 41 chevy stepside and after getting the brakes up and running discovered one of the wheel cylinders is leaking like hell, my issue is that I dont know what car the axle originally came from and so im not quite sure what part to look for other than GM 8.2 10 bolt axle wheel cylinder. Are they all the same for that axle type or specific to a certain drum size?

You can get a casting # off of the wheel cylinder,or just take it apart and measure the pistons, most of the rubber cups have the size printed on the inside of the cup.

Thanks for the help, do you know if most 10 bolt axles all use the same size cylinders or not?

I believe they do if they are 9-1/2" drums. 11" drums may take a different size. But do as M224speed says it should be no problem.

Take the old one and match it up. There can't be that many differences, if there are any.

All the same, regardless of which 10 bolt you have. Better get both sides, as once one starts leaking, the other will follow soon!

1934coupe is spot on. 9-1/2” and 11” drums have different size wheel cylinder. Guess how I know ;)

Basically there are 2 versions for 9 1/2" brakes they are either bolted on or have a retaining clip on the backside
