My friend Tim shockingly found a decent 1932 Ford 5W coupe body in the woods around here back in late June/early July. He tracked down the land owner, a deal was struck, and he described getting it out as "a guy on each corner, hacking down small tress and packing it about a mile...even across a creek". His original plan was to fix the body up and sell it...but deuce fever struck and he decided to build it. He started with zero 32 parts. He located a cherry frame, I knew of a rear end and front wishbone, he had Okie Joe drop a heavy axle, and between Thee Emperors, internet ,swap meets and good ol fashioned scrounging , the past 2 months have gotten it to this roller. He straitened the body fairly well, the frame is complete, it steers and with the brakes bled will stop. My Dad is building a mean 59AB for it, but for now he has a running 59AB that will power it. He also has a 39 trans that will have all NOS internals in it. He's had that tranny for years. His goal is to have it on the road for the Swindlers Poker Run next weekend. Cross your fingers, may require a few all nighters!
Very cool story and awesome progress!!! I would loved to have seen it sitting in the woods the way it was when he stumbled upon it! -Charlie
You Emps.....you love your rat rods, I mean beaters. . Like I said yesterday, I love when a punch of colors come together unplanned but give the car some character! Looks great!!! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Wow. that thing rules. I hope Tim can get it wrapped up enough to bring on the Poker Run. He'd get the "Total Ruler" award for sure...
