Vert true. Sadly if you were trying to race in a Caddy, your starting with the wrong car.

  3. I would not worry too much if it is $3000 or $4000. You are probably going to spend a whole lot more than $1000 getting it road worthy. Nothing on a 50's Caddie is cheap to fix.

I believe the car is coming home Thursday, title, air cleaner and all. Wish me luck getting that beast on a trailer!

I wouldn't give $3k. You can buy a 2dr for that price in this sorta shape. If your looking to flip.. Ur looking at maybe making $500. I'm not trying to knock ur deal. But the more doors are hard as hell to sell.

    3k
Maybe, if you can find one. I would think a 2dr in this shape would sell for around 5k from what I have seen. Im buying the car for me, not really to flip. The way I see it, if the engine turns out to be a baot anchor, I can sell the bumpers, carb setup and aircleaner and make most of my money back.

You did good at 3k. any 4 door with the high performance engine option is a rarity, as most were parted out to option up the 2 door hardtops and converts. Plus, that is a cool looking car.

Congrats both on getting big money for the Chevy and a decent price on the Cadillac. Looking forward to the video where we can (in the words of the Beach Boys) "hear his dual quads drink!" :D

  14. The long and the short of it is, you got the car, a lot of the posters in this thread wouldn't have gotten it.

I know I am late to the price question part of this thread. But 2 years ago I watched a Cad expert buy a 2-4 set-up from a Cad expert next to me a Hershey swap meet. The price paid was $2900 for a complete set-up with linkage from gas pedal to transmission. With air cleaner. All in nice but unrestored condition. All the the parts were correct, pins, clips, numbers ect. I feel it was as high a price as could be obtained, but I saw it happen.

Also, is this car 6-volt or 12-volt? The reason I ask is I see a battery tray that looks like it is the 6-volt size but the battery cables coming from the engine bay look like they are long enough to fit a 12-volt one on the other side of the wheel well...

Too many doors. Otherwise, it'd be a really cool car...

I'd say you did quite well. This old girl showed up last Sunday near by. I looked at it briefly, and it's rough. I did not open the hood. He's asking $6.5K. That seems like way too much.

His car seems a little rusty, BUT it is a two door. As you have seen, some here hold them superior.
Awesome I need all the info I can get

Damn after seeing this I should have my ass kicked. I just sold my 55 coupe deville barn find for 3500. It had the original 331 with all the stock interior in really good shape. The engine was frozen but the car had absolutely no rust at all. It sat in a farmers small barn since 69 still had the tags on it. I got the car for just tearing the barn down. Damn I hate I sold that car. It was a 1 owner also.

in this case, dual wcfbs more than balances out the extra doors.

Getting a bonded title is not as easy as it was after 9-1-2013 Texas is becoming more and more like stinking California on that kind of stuff ;(

Still can be done but be prepared to jump through a few hoops and have some cold 1's ready for the unnecessary frustration.
