I love fabrication threads, and this is a great one, but none of the older pics are showing up now, and I can't steal your ideas.

on my uncles 30 roadster i got the frame back from the painter, so need to get it all buttoned up and back to the painter to put the body on and lay the base coat.

here is were i am at

then i thought it would be a good time take the old wood out of the roof and get the new wood kit in. started pulling the wood on the passenger side and noticed some cracking in the sheet metal. dug a little deeper and found a ton of led, and a lot of bad sheet metal work when it was chopped

so i figured i would start on the roof side panels and work my way back, and down. spent a few hours with the hammer and dollie and got the roof pretty straight. then, cleaned the inside the roof, and put some black paint in, and started installing the passenger side roof wood.

Great stuff going on in your shop, the fact that you make pretty much everything by hand and it actually looks right amazes me, keep up the amazing work, I noticed that the dashboard in that coupe is signed by Gene Winfield, pretty cool, subscribed, thanks for showing us your metal magic, look forward to seeing more, Murch!

been working on the truck over the past couple days, hope to have it rolling with in a few days

    making the front spring perch

then machined a 7* tapered bung for the tie rod ends on the wishbones. then welded it into a piece of tube to go through the frame. so i could get a socket on the nut and keep water and dirt out of the frame

then drilled through the rails, installed and welded solid the bung assembly

then all smoothed out and tie rod ends installed

started working on this old frame the other day. i had to make a chassis jig for it. it is a crusty old frame but the owner of the chassis would not go for new rails. he wants as much of the original frame as possible

here is the chassis in the jig, used a set of asc blue prints to make sure the jig and chassis are set up correct

had to make some bolt on clamps that bolt to a few of the factory body mount holes to hold the chassis in the jig and make sure it and other chassis are always in the same place to hold tolerance

some of the rust and other damage that needs repaired

getting the x members and center section removed

everything removed and ready to start the hard part

welding up some of the extra holes in the chassis

ready to cut out this large rust area and replace it

the new repair panel made, traced onto the old rail, drilled the corners of the repair to prevent stress cracks later on in life

all welded up, ground smooth, ready to keep moving forward
