I bought a 1962 Thunderbird convertible and the hood latch cable is broken off with about 6 foot of wire on the handle. How do I get the hood open manually? There are 2 latches one on each side of the hood as I recall. I don't know how to get them popped open as I can reach the center safety latch but not the side ones. Any ideas without destroying anything?

If you can reach the cable from inside put a pair of vise grips on the end of the wire and pull.

The cable broke off at the latch so there is nothing to get a vise grip on

  4. You may have to make a tool to slip in around the cable end of the latch. We had them in the GM factory to release hoods to repair the broken cables.
