Kinda like a Goodwood Revival for hot rods! From a land that has a rich tradition of specials, historic motor sports, hill climbs, rain and mud - sod the weather, let's go play with cars....
This is by far the best post on the HAMB in a long time. My heart rate just jumped wayyyyy up ! Way too cool !!!
Cool pics, I just cannot decide which is better the #143 car in the first set of pics or the flag girl....
My god if this isnt what its all about I dont know what is. Amazing pictures Stefan, you have a great eye for capturing the action. Im really excited to see more of these type events and reliability runs, hill climbs etc... cause really theres just nothing better than driving the shit out of these old cars !
WOW! What a great thread, stunning pictures! Thanks for sharing. Will this be an annual event? Dennis
I've been doing this shit since about 1978 and this is by far the best thing I have ever done , thanks to Neil Fretwell and fantastic crew . It really was amazing see you all next year Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I believe the intention is for it to be an annual event. Unfortunately not there myself but reports say that the local council and towns folk themselves really enjoyed it and want the VHRA back next year. I will leave it for Neil of the association to confirm it, always worth keeping an eye on the VHRA's own website for news of events http://www.vhra.co.uk/VHRA/Home.html
here's a bit of history about the land speed records at Pendine and film of the Parry Thomas car (Babs) in action from the '20's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6QjFWKB1s4
Unfuckinbelievable. Doesn't get better than this. Just found more pics here: http://www.speedhunters.com/2013/09/pendine-pounders-speed-trials-on-sand/
Very cool. I was just at a car show where the cars were 95 percent 1954 and newer and 2 traditional cars. the other were street rods. Your black and white photography captures the mood. Thanks guys.
Awesome event, looks like a lot of fun! So this is Dean Lowe's old truck? Does anyone else have pics of it from the event?
No it's not Dean's truck although the current owner was very close to having it ready in time. That one belongs to Matt Farrant from the Vultures. Ran 107mph for a class win.
No, 'fraid not, that was Matt Farrants rpu. I spoke to the brother of the owner of Dean's old truck and the truck was supposed to be there, but was delayed due to late delivery of some chrome plated parts. Mart.
