Does anyone know where you can buy the large BF Goodrich tires like they used to make.......I think they were like 325/60 15, 16 or 17.....they are the perfect tire for open wheels '32's..........I have some of the Hoosiers, but they don't have the square look of the BFG's

You mean the Radial TA's? Pretty sure 295/50/16's are the largest. You can still get them from tirerack.

Those are probably either 345/55R16's or 315/55R16's. They havent been made in a long time. I have had a few sets on my roadster, but they don't seem to last very long, maybe because they are so old the rubber doesn't hold up.

I got lucky and scored a "brand used" (still had nubblies) set of 295/70/15 tires on craigslist a few weeks ago. had to buy the wheels too, but selling them offset the cost. cant get em new to my knowledge so I was doubly happy to get a deal on new tires. popped them on some rallies and onto the truck, had to pull the bed to get them stuffed in there!

The 295/50/15 's were the largest T/A that I was able to find still offered and were on what seemed to be an indefinite backorder so I started looking araound at other options. I was able to find some 295/50/15 Dunlops at Discount Tire Direct a few months back for my Pantera.

I recall that ET was marketing tires a few years ago, I think they called them Roadster Tires. Maybe they were rebranded Hoosiers?

  11. Got a brand new set (stickers still on them) 345 55 17's BFG 's

I'm surprised Corky Coker hasn't bought the tooling for the Sport Truck TA

  13. Ray and I discussed these with a guy at So-Cal's open house a couple years ago. The guy we were talking to said he had bought up all the old stock of 345/55/16s from the distributor in so cal. Said he wanted $1800 a pair. And yes, they were the Sport Truck TAs.

the sport truck t/a was discontinued while bfg was still selling them. the sport truck was listed as a 31/10.50/15 or a 33/12.50/15. they transferred over to the radial t/a line as the 285/70/15.

a cheaper alternative is a 265/70/15, which several manufacturers are selling. not quite as big, but close enough for most people.

(they also sold a 16.5" version, as seen on bob rothenberg's 33 willys. he had his et IIIs modded to hold the 16.5)

  18. Not so Mr Monsterflake, The T/A truck radial 315 70/15, 345 55 16 & 17 were a breed of their own.
Bought over 100 sets in my time.

We also were going to run the BFG TA truck tires but found out the ride was a little stiff. I think that they used 7 ply for the truck tires. I have an extra set of 285 70r 15s that we bought for our Willys. They were never run on the street. They were only used to mock up the stance of the car and roll it around in the garage. Let me know if you still need a pair? Here's a shot of our 33 coupe with a set of BFG's just like them.
I really like the shot of Bob Rothenberg's 33 Willys. He actually is running the fenders and running boards that came off of our coupe.

255 70 15s are a big tire. 29 inches tall and 10 inch foot print. The car on my avatar wears them.

  21. I have the 345/16's on my car. I hate to think of what I am going to have to do when it's time for tires. They are perfect!

Both a great choice, and as square looking or even more so than the T/A is.

$1800 a pr. for BFG TA's? He's smokin funny cigarettes.
Someone will tell me they're 'traditional'.

I must be getting old. I think $1800 for a set of 4 wheels and tires is too much.
