Ed and I already have a bet going: Craig's Black Cat vs. Alex's green machine. NYC's finest microbrew vs. Chicago's is on the table. No one can really lose... well, at least neither Ed nor I will lose as long as the winner shares. :D

Hey, TK what kart/engine are you running?

I've been working on improving my '61 Simplex Challenger. I bent the original brake rods during June's race, so I've building my own beefier rods. I also improved the controls, added a chain guard and high performance/heavy duty chain, a kill switch, and an adjustable aluminum engine mount. Thanks to a fellow racer I met at the June Scramble, I also now have some very rare parts that I was missing... original pedal pads and brake shoes and springs for BOTH sides. :D Stopping is a nice feature to have.

Yeah, great color! It reminds me a bit of 390Merc's dad's & uncle's kart in the 60s. We used this photo for our postcard.

Actors, like Steve McQueen, did it.

    Rock stars from the Beatles...

    to Kurt Cobain, did it

Race car drivers, like Sir Sterling Moss, did it.

Famous customizers, like George Barris, did it.

WWII heroes like Gen Curtis LeMay did it

Hell, even religious leaders did it.

Zenor, do you actually have McClure's kart?!? Sure it's fast, but can it handle the turns? :)

Different versions of his jet kart

That's Duffy Livingstone, founder of Go Kart Manufacturing Company in Irwindale, Ca. Thats an experimental Go Kart with a front mounted motorcycle engine (Puch I think). It ran in C open. He also built a prototype with a 250 CC Yamaha engine mounted upside down. Modern day karters win a "Duffy" for major championship wins in his honor. He's alive, well, funny as ever in Tennesse I believe.

FYI, I know there will be a TRIPLE-engined vintage kart running on Saturday. I think he runs alcohol. There will also be at least 2 vintage karts running dual West Bend 820 saw motors. It's going to be a gooooooood race!

Looks good to me! You'll have plenty of competition. It looks like your main problem is getting going, but you're pretty quick once you do

  24. its hell being fat
6'4" and 260 is a curse for go kart racing
i sacraficed my low speed for top end on my gearing, but i have a few different sets to try and max my lap times

Lammy=Lambretta. No go for the Scramble, but I just hear there will be a big scooter rallye in New Orleans in June '14.

Tomorrow is all about vintage karts and minibikes!

    Driver's meeting at 9:45am!!!!

The kart track is 7/10 mile.
The minibike is 6/10 mile, and is pretty technical. The length of the drags is open for some debate. I'm not really sure what the "standard" is. We ran 50-60yds in June, but could easily double that. Suggestions?
